About This Spot

Stepping into The Barn feels like being welcomed into a cherished local spot where time slows just enough to savor familiar comforts. Tucked away along a quiet stretch in Cameron, Oklahoma, this seafood nook carries a gentle rhythm that’s unhurried and welcoming. The modest exterior and simple interiors invite you to relax and settle in, surrounded by the easy chatter of neighbors and the warm smiles of a staff who clearly enjoy the company as much as the food they serve.

The atmosphere here is one of casual ease, where lines form not out of hype but because this is a place people come back to, drawn by the honest, straightforward approach to comfort food. The mood is quietly lively, a subtle hum of community that often accompanies a good meal shared in a familiar space. Here, the heart of the experience isn’t in ornate presentations but in the way the food reminds you of home-cooked traditions—framed by fresh, local catch and generous sides that speak of care rather than fanfare.

The Barn’s buffet setup offers a kind of laid-back generosity, welcoming you to sample and savor, creating moments that feel less like dining and more like gathering. Patrons often find themselves lingering over classic, soul-soothing dishes where the highlight is a freshly fried catfish that carries the faint hint of the nearby waters. It’s the simplicity and authenticity of these plates, paired with genuine hospitality, that makes the visit quietly memorable.

In a world of ever-changing trends, The Barn stands as a gentle reminder that there is joy in returning to the roots of a meal well-made, shared in a space where friendliness isn't just part of the service—it’s woven into the atmosphere.

This place is so worth it. We came right when they opened and they already had a line. The catfish is so fresh and the sides are really tasty too. For $15 per adult it’s really amazing. I would for sure go back. Really friendly staff too.

A hole-in-the-wall catfish and seafood buffet (but aren't those the best ones?) While visiting Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith, AR, a couple, also visiting, befriended honey and me. After we affirmed we liked catfish, the husband proceeded to tell us about "The Barn Catfish and Seafood Buffet" located in Oklahoma, just across the state line. He was insistent we try this buffet and described it as the "best catfish buffet he'd ever eaten at." Well, that doesn't tell me much since we'd just met him. Maybe this was the only catfish buffet he'd eaten! I'm generally not a "buffet-type" eater but I've made a few exceptions. I'll have to add this one to the list. The buffet choices weren't extensive. But what was offered was extremely well prepared. Items that were supposed to be served hot were and the cold items were cold. I'd prefer having fewer items on the buffet prepared well than to have too many to manage. The man who befriended us said the buffet was only $9.99 including a drink. I thought, "It's obvious he hadn't been there in a long time!" And, just as I thought, he was mistaken about the price. It was actually $10.00 including the drink! Bring cash. No credit or debit cards accepted. The grounds were covered with old rustic items and out buildings which added to the charm of this experience. The red building is actually the restaurant.

The people are so nice here that I can’t give it less than 4 stars even though the food is closer to 3 stars. If you’re craving fried catfish, you’ll probably love it. Other than that, the food is just okay, in our opinion. If they added fried bone-in chicken to the buffet, we’d definitely give it a try again. Info you may need if haven’t been here before: they don’t take cards so be sure & bring cash & if it’s a holiday or holiday weekend of any sort then be sure & check their Facebook page to see if they’ll be open (for example: they’re closed on Halloween; the wknd of Labor Day, etc). Again, the people are gems but the food wasn’t anything to write home about (it seems many would disagree with us b/c they stay super busy but that’s just our take).
